A New 3 Year Collaboration
CHART in Tivoli presents a fresh perspective on traditional exhibition formats. By placing artworks in the context of the historic amusement park Tivoli Gardens, the project offers a new opportunity to broaden the audience for contemporary art.
For the first edition of our collaboration, we produced a unique exhibition with 15 leading contemporary artists. Each artist’s work was integrated into the landscape of the park, creating a new context for the works as well as for many of Tivoli’s most iconic sites.
Founded in 1843, Tivoli continues to be one of Copenhagen's most symbolic cultural locations; with this exhibition we have been proud to inspire new collaborations across Copenhagen's cultural scenes and to expand the format for what an art fair can be.
Following last year's accomplishments, we are excited to announce a 3 year extension to the collaboration. Get ready for the return of CHART in Tivoli this August with a brand new exhibition of site-specific artworks.
Building On Our Achievements
The first iteration of CHART in Tivoli grabbed international headlines and welcomed an unprecedented number of visitors across the month-long exhibition period. The success of last year's collaboration resulted in Tivoli Gardens acquiring one of the works exhibited, Kim Simonsson's Girl Feeding a Two Headed Rabbit (presented by Galerie Forsblom), for its permanent collection.
In continuation with this permanent legacy, we are thrilled that last year's collaboration has turned into a new extended partnership. Every August and September for the next 3 years, Tivoli's guests will have the opportunity to experience a cultural environment unlike any other. In the heart of Copenhagen, they will encounter site-specific sculptures, installations, video works and much more alongside the park's world-famous rides and attractions.
Mark your calendars: CHART in Tivoli 2023 opens with CHART on Thursday 24 August with a new line-up of prominent Nordic and international artists. We look forward to sharing more with you soon.
