About The Artist
Icelandic artist Kristinn E. Hrafnsson works with a number of different materials, but primarily with graphic art and sculpture. The starting point for his work is thinking about how humans find their place and way in the world.
His works often use titles, words and short phrases as an integral part of the visual expression. What the works literally say is both challenged and informed by the exhibition context and mode of display.
In this specific case, the work is installed on the ground in the Tivoli Gardens in a spot that architecturally draws upon many different cultural and geographical contexts, in a sense mirroring the confusions and connections that lie in both the wording and the layout of the text in the work.
Kristinn E. Hrafnsson (b.1960, Ólafsfjörður; Iceland) studied at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and graduate finished his graduate studies at Akademie der Bildenden Kunste in Munich, Germany in 1990.
Hrafnsson lives and works in Reykjavik. His works have been exhibited widely in Iceland and Europe, and are part of all of Iceland's major museum collections, both private and public.
