About The Work
For CHART in Tivoli 2023, Klara Kristalova will present a new bronze sculpture that expands her longstanding interest in ideas of transformation. Fusing together human figures with the organic features of trees and other plantlife, Kristalova’s sculptures use fantasy to explore various stages of transition.
Often focusing on the lives of girls or young women, Kristalova’s works also explore the relationship between humans and the natural world in broader terms. The landscape, though not directly represented, is an essential component of Kristalova’s mental and physical universe, inferred in fragments and subtle references across all strands of her practice.
