About The Work
For CHART in Tivoli 2023, the artistic duo Inka & Niclas will exhibit a new work that expands upon their longstanding investigation into the photographic medium. Appearing like a wet towel hanging from a tree, ‘Sunset Photography VIII’ has been produced by layering images of seascapes on top of each other and then printing them onto a resin-coated textile fabric.
Firmly fixed to the bark of the tree, and grounded in ideas of the natural, Inka and Niclas’s synthetic renderings seem to have collapsed under their own weight. The sculpture's glassy, slimy folds hide and obscure, but also invite us to fill this sense of uncertainty with our own ideas and impressions.

About The Artist
Inka (b. 1985; FI) and Niclas (b. 1984; SE) Lindergård are an acclaimed artist duo working primarily with photo-based art. They have collaborated since 2007 and live and work in Stockholm, Sweden. The materiality of photography is crucial to Inka & Niclas’s works, which examine processes of contemporary perception as well as the connection between photographic media and the stylisation of the natural world. Often depicting bright utopian landscapes, Inka & Niclas’s works offer an open portal to a hyperrealistic synthesis of beauty, kitsch and visual desire.
Inka & Niclas are represented by Dorothée Nilsson Gallery.
