About Troels Wörsel
Troels Wörsel was born in 1950 in Aarhus, Denmark. In 1974 he moved to Münich and later to Cologne, Germany where he currently lives and works.
Troels Wörsel’s approach to art stems from a fundamental interest in the painting and its devices – its history, function and formal characteristics. Wörsel is interested in how the painting gains its meaning, and through mixtures of type, color and gesture, he plays with a combination of linguistic and visual meanings.
Troels Wörsel is represented in the collections of a.o Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, the MoMA in New York, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Städtisches Kunstmuseum in Bonn and Washington Museum of Art. Wörsel was in 2002 the first-prize winner of the Carnegie Art Awards, and was Denmark’s representative in the 2007 Venice Biennial.
Troels Wörsel is represented by Galleri Susanne Ottesen.
