The competition brief for our celebratory 10th anniversary is now live. The 10 day submission period starts today!

Key Information

  • Competition starts Tuesday 16 April 2024 12:00 (CET)

  • 10 day open call - competition ends Friday 26 April 2024 23:59 (CET)

  • Theme: Neo Nordic Architecture

  • Function: An exhibition space that challenges the white cube gallery format

  • Proposals must be able to accommodate artworks in all weather conditions

  • 1 winning proposal selected, plus several honourable mentions

  • The winning team will be given a production budget of up to 150.000 DKK ex. VAT. This amount has to cover all parts of the production process.

  • Open to emerging architects and architectural studios.

  • All team members must have graduated with a masters degree from an architectural school.

  • At least 50% of the team members must have graduated within the last 10 years.

  • Preferably all team members must be based in Denmark – team members must be prepared to travel frequently to Copenhagen at their own expense.

This year's jury includes a broad range of experts from specialist backgrounds, including: Søren Pihlmann, founder of pihlmann architects; architect and journalist Tyra Dokkedahl, founder of Seriously Fun and specialising in the meeting points between art, architecture and communications; architect Jakob Brandtberg Knudsen, Dean of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy – Architecture, Design, Conservation.

    Produced by Nicole Strelcheva, Trine Thy, Aleksander Nowak and Tamara Kalantajevska, the pavillion was designed to house an oyster and wine bar in the Charlottenborg Courtyard

  • CHART Architecture 2015 First Prize: The Fall

    Produced by Jakob Holmqvist Larsen and Søren Kryger Aagaard, the pavilion hosted a pop-up burger joint by Union Kitchen

  • CHART Architecture 2023 First Prize: Off The Shelf

    Produced by Anton Boman, Jonathan Lindberg, and Matthew Wilson, together they form Plan Noll. The structure achieves its appearance using “off-the-shelf” materials including corrugated fiberglass sheets and galvanised steel scaffolding standards.

  • CHART Architecture 2022 First Prize: Bio Sack

    Produced by Marie Louise Thorning, Anders Lynderup Erichsen and Michael Rex Skov. The Bio Sack pavilion is a reinterpretation of the traditional seaweed houses of Læsø Island.

  • CHART Architecture 2021 First Prize: Leverage

    Produced by Danish studio Rumgehør, this experimental pavilion used dunnage bags to create a light and futuristic structure.

  • CHART Architecture 2019 First Prize: Sultan

    Produced by Anne Bea Høgh Mikkelsen, Katrine Kretzschmar Nielsen, Klara Lyshøj, and Josefine Østergaard Kallehave this pavilion was constructed using recycled IKEA mattresses.

  • CHART Architecture 2018 First Prize: Tight Knit

    Produced by Jan Sienkiewicz and Uta Sienkiewicz, "Tight Knit" draws its design from the oldest traditions of knitting and weaving, turning craft techniques into rituals of collective empowerment.

  • CHART Architecture 2017 First Prize: The Paper Pavilion

    Produced by PAN- Projects, for The Paper Pavilion was designed according to the belief that for a sustainable future it is necessary to reconsider the excesses of our daily life and adjust them appropriately.
