CHART 2024

Join us as we invite art collectors, art professionals and art enthusiasts for the 12th edition of CHART from 29 August — 01 September, with a VIP preview on 29 August, at Charlottenborg in the heart of Copenhagen.

Presenting an art fair with the leading galleries in the region, an art book and print fair, an off-site sculptural exhibition in Tivoli Gardens and a broad public programme of talks, performances and architectural projects, we pay tribute to artistic quality in all its diverse forms as it emerges across the Nordic art scene.

Stay tuned, as we are very excited to share more information soon regarding the broad range of initiatives and ambitious public programming that will give shape to this year's CHART.

"CHART is a highlight on the Nordic arts calendar. Founded a decade ago by five leading Copenhagen galleries, the annual three-day event in August offers a window into the region’s contemporary art and design scene."

CHART Architecture: 10 Years

CHART 2024 will mark the 10th Anniversary of CHART Architecture, an annual open-call competition inviting teams of emerging architects to submit proposals for innovative structures to be installed inside the courtyards at Charlottenborg during CHART.

To mark this important milestone, this year's competition will call for larger-scale proposals focusing on 'New Nordic Architecture', giving selected finalists an opportunity unlike any other to showcase their ambition and creativity. Submissions will be juried by an expert panel of architects and creative industry leaders, pooling their knowledge and experience from diverse fields.

We can't wait to share more with you soon – stay tuned for more announcements in early spring including this year's jury and more information about the competition brief for CHART Architecture 2024.

"The new generation of architects are being formed by a world in economic, social and ecological turmoil. In spite of this I see a lot of optimism in the way they approach their role, challenging conventional thinking and pushing the industry in a more collective and collaborative direction"

Start Collecting with CHART

For CHART 2024, we are delighted to announce the return of 'Start Collecting with CHART,' a curated selling exhibition featuring works priced below 20.000 DKK/2700 EUR.

We first introduced the initiative in 2023 as part of our ambition to open up the conversation around collecting art. Each of the leading galleries exhibiting at CHART are invited to participate with a work by 1 artist from their roster. Featuring contributions from established international stars as well as emerging artists, 'Start Collecting with CHART' provides a cross-section of the Nordic art scene, at a more accessible scale.

Taking place in the foyer at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, the exhibition aims to build transparency around the purchasing process and encourages first-time buyers to start their collecting journeys with the galleries exhibiting at CHART.

If you are interested to start purchasing art, Start Collecting is the perfect introduction to the gallery world!

CHART in Tivoli

CHART in Tivoli presents a fresh perspective on traditional exhibition formats. By placing artworks in the context of the historic amusement park Tivoli Gardens, the project offers a new opportunity to broaden the audience for contemporary art.

Between 2022 and 2023, 30+ site-specific artworks, by leading contemporary artists, were integrated into the landscape of the park, offering visitors an art experience unlike any other.

Following the success of previous editions, and the announcement of a new 3-year partnership with Tivoli Gardens last spring, CHART in Tivoli 2024 will present a brand new exhibition of sculptural installations in a truly iconic Copenhagen setting.
