CHART

For CHART 2024, CFHILL will present works by two of Sweden's most celebrated artists: Martina Müntzing and Charlotte Gyllenhammar. Exploring the dialogue between Gyllenhammar's concrete sculptures and Müntzing’s meticulous painterly exploration of the sublime, the presentation will offer CHART's visitors the opportunity to be spellbound as they experience the harmony and contrast between these two distinctive artistic practices.

Martina Müntzing (SE)

Martina Müntzing is known for her meticulous exploration of the sublime. Müntzing's works express a deep obsession with time, depicted with astonishing detail and nearly invisible brushstrokes. Her works breathe realism and carry the enigmatic allure of folklore.

Martina Müntzing (b. 1968, Helsingborg; SE) studied at the Royal Institute of Art and at Munka-ljungby folkhögskola (Munka-ljungby; SE). Her work has been exhibited at venues such as the Royal Academy of Art in Stockholm, Uppsala Art Museum (Uppsala; SE), Liljevalchs (Stockholm; SE), and Millesgården Museum (Lidingö, SE). She has created several public commissions for the Swedish Parliament, Stockholm University, and Uppsala University Hospital. Müntzing’s work is represented in the collections of Moderna Museet (Stockholm; SE), Norrköping Art Museum (Norrköping; SE), the Swedish Public Art Agency, and the municipal collections of Stockholm, Uppsala, and Skåne.

Charlotte Gyllenhammar (SE)

Charlotte Gyllenhammar’s work explores power, vulnerability, and identity. She works across several disciplines, but it is within the sculptural medium she truly has excelled. She often revisits the same characters in her works, especially the child clad in a protective armour of overalls, or women weighed down by layers of skirts and furs.

Charlotte Gyllenhammar (b. 1963, Gothenburg; SE) lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. Gyllenhammar studied at the Royal College of Art in London and the Kungliga Konsthögskolan in Stockholm. Her public works include the memorial for Raoul Wallenberg in Gothenburg (SE), the sculpture 'Meteorite' in Lund (SE) and the monument to Dag Hammarskjöld in Uppsala (SE).
