Ivan Andersen (DK)

Ivan Andersen's artistic practice explores the inherent mutability of painting while preserving its integrity. Manipulating the medium, he unveils visual structures, merging realism and abstraction. From figuration to landscapes, his subjects vary, crafted on MDF and plywood, with textured surfaces employing mixed media. His sculptures blend painting with objects, challenging traditional formats, creating vibrant, technically adept works praised for their colour treatment. Artist Jesper Christiansen notes, "Ivan Andersen thinks in colours and with colours, allowing them to sing out clearly as a vital way to create a pictorial narrative.

Ivan Andersen (b.1969) lives and works in Copenhagen. He graduated from Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi in 2005. His work is represented in collections including: ARKEN – Museum of Modern Art, KUNSTEN Museum of Modern Art, Musée National d’HIstoire et d’Art, New Carlsberg Foundation, Skive Kunstmuseum among others.
