Emily Gernild (DK)

Emily Gernild’s paintings reimagine the still life tradition through rich, tactile compositions that blur the line between abstraction and representation. Her works are infused with a sensory depth—fruits, seeds, soil, and vessels rendered in earthy tones and shimmering surfaces using rabbit-skin glue—evoking cycles of nourishment, decay, and regeneration.
Drawing on art historical references and feminist undertones, Gernild’s visual language resists fixed meaning. Her paintings unfold slowly, offering fragmented forms that coalesce over time into dreamlike wholes, where domestic symbolism, vitality, and existential reflection converge..

Danish artist Emily Gernild (1985, Odense) lives and works in Copenhagen. She graduated from Funen Art Academy (2016) and Düsseldorf Kunstakademie (2014). Her work is in the collection of Canica Art Collection, Norway, Danish Arts Foundation, Denmark, Kastrupgårdsamlingen, Denmark, The Carlsberg Foundation, Denmark and Trapholt Museum, Denmark, among others.

Emily Gernild's works will be presented as part of the Special Projects programme for CHART 2025 by Galleri Bo Bjerggaard.

Diana Orving (SE)

In Nebulae, Diana Orving unfolds as a large-scale textile sculpture, echoing the drifting forms of cosmic clouds — celestial bodies of dust, gas, and light where stars are born. Composed of hand-dyed, translucent materials in shifting shades of purple, lavender, and blue, the work breathes with an alchemical presence, its forms hovering as if caught in a moment of becoming.

The spectrum of purple — from deep violet to pale lavender — holds centuries of symbolic weight. It speaks of transformation, spirituality, and the threshold between matter and ether; it carries the depth of night and the promise of dawn. Like the nebula itself, the work exists where chaos and creation meet — reaching, resisting, never still.

Drawing on the vast language of the cosmos, Nebulae suggests that the forces shaping stars are not unlike those shaping us: slow, unseen, and profoundly transformative. A silent ecstasy. A firework unseen.

Cristina de Miguel (ES)

For CHART 2025, we are pleased to present three works by Cristina de Miguel in her body of work called Perras, in which she explores the chimera, a hybrid creature both human and animal, illusory and mythic. The resulting figures serve as a vessel for examining how queer bodies find freedom, a question de Miguel often interrogates in her practice.

Cristina de Miguel, born 1987, Sevilla, Spain, lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, USA. De Miguel holds a Master of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, USA, 2012 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Sevilla, Spain, 2010. Recent exhibitions include:Perras, V1 Gallery, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2025; Dissolving, Almine Rech Gallery, London, UK, 2024; Cristina de Miguel & Jenny Brosinski, Almine Rech Gallery, NY, USA 2023; El Caer y el Viento, Villa Magdalena, San Sebastian, Spain, 2023; Gente Cayendo del Cielo, L21 Gallery, Mallorca, Spain, 2022.

Modou Dieng Yacine (SN)

Afrikas Stjerne (2024) Modou Dieng Yacine is based on the boardgame of the same name ["The Star of Africa"], one of the most popular board games in the Nordic countries of all time. In the game, players travel across the African content, collecting gemstones and so on. The game evokes the process of 'othering' that has played an essential role in the history of colonialism. In this way, Dieng Yacine's work reflects on the legacy of these same attitudes in contemporary Nordic culture.

Modou Dieng Yacine (b. 1970, Saint-Louis; SN) lives and works in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The graduated from the School of Fine Arts of Dakar, Senegal, and holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, California, USA. Works by Modou Dieng Yacine are held in the permanent collections of the Studio Museum, New York; The National Museum Of African Art, Washington DC; The US Department of State, Washington DC; The Kranzberg Foundation, St. Louis.

Afrikas Stjerne by Modou Dieng Yacine will be presented as part of the Special Projects programme for CHART 2025 by SPECTA.

Kristín Morthens (IS)

Kristín Morthens practice navigates the delicate terrain of boundaries, intimacy, and separation through abstract figuration. Her paintings often depict liminal, limb-like forms suspended in moments of near-contact, reaching toward or away from each other in gestures of yearning or withdrawal. These sensorial dynamics are amplified by her material approach: oil, spray paint, dry pastel, charcoal, and sand are layered to produce textured surfaces that reflect notions of distance, connection, and physicality.

Morthens (b. 1992) draws on a multidisciplinary foundation shaped by studies in Toronto and Chicago, and her work has been exhibited widely across Iceland, Europe, and North America. Recent exhibitions include Axis / Öxull (2024) and Air Under Water (2023) at Þula, Reykjavík. Her works are held in major public collections including The National Gallery of Iceland and the Reykjavík Art Museum.

Oliver Sundqvist (DK)

Inspired by Italian Nasoni drinking fountains, merged with his ongoing exploration of reflective materials and distorted self-image, Oliver Sundqvist has created a sculptural mobile self-service bar in collaboration with Nørrebro Bryghus. The interactive sculpture invites you to pour yourself a drink or etch your own writing into the surface, offering a playful perspective that is both and poignant and bold. The installation will be placed in courtyard of Charlottenborg and will be open during the fairs courtyard programme.

Oliver Sundqvist's bar NASONI SELFSERVICE will be presented as part of the Special Projects programme for CHART 2025 in collaboration with V1 Gallery.
