About The Works

Ivy Fence, 2025

Ivy Fence is an intervention in the spatial fabric of Tivoli – a pentagonal glass pavilion veiled in aluminium ivy. The work stems from my ongoing exploration of plant blindness: our tendency to overlook, ignore, or undervalue plant life, and the resulting estrangement from nature. Here, nature – not living, but as image and reminder – begins to climb back over the man-made. The ivy becomes a symbol of the organic insisting on piercing through the grid of civilisation. In the recognition of the plant species, the work plays with the distance between the natural and the artificial – and the question of how close to reality we must come to remember what nature is.

The work is created for CHART and is presented in parallel with my solo exhibition at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, where the same ivy frames paintings that revolve around similar themes. A work situated between decoration and colonisation – where nature, even as construction, reclaims its place.
