About The Works
Plug And Play, 2026
The sculpture Plug and Play engages with the spaces and structures that shape childhood - physically, mentally and culturally. Inspired by the abacus as both a learning tool and a play object, it reflects how systems of learning and play create frameworks through which norms and values are internalised, presenting the form as a quiet monument to ways of teaching and learning.

About The Artist
Sofie Winther (b. 1991, Denmark) is an interdisciplinary artist who works with sculpture, performance and video. Her practice explores how structures such as kinship, work and power are shaped and internalised in everyday life. Using readymades, scent and surrealism, she examines parasitic relationships and forms of interdependence with a particular focus on motherhood, birth as labor and institutional systems. Her works explore the tension between care and control and open up reflection on capitalism, institutionalization and global consumer culture.
Sofie Winther is represented by Matteo Cantarella.
