CHART Public 2026 – Brief Now Live

The competition brief to design the spatial experience of CHART 2026 is now live. The 10 day submission period starts today!

Key Information

  • Competition starts Thursday 16 April 2026 12:00 (CET)

  • 10 day open call - deadline Sunday 26 April 2026 23:59 (CET)

  • Calling for innovative stagings of the Charlottenborg courtyards that transforms the space into a total artistic installation with a cohesive visual narrative.

  • Proposals must have a distinct wow-factor that reflects the energy of the fair, whilst also offering social space.

  • Functionality is important as submissions must be adapted to the historic courtyards and able to integrate fixed scaffolding structures including bars and restaurants.

  • Teams must incorporate key 'physical elements' including: skin designs for scaffolding structures, information points (signage design), spatial elements for seating/hanging out, and lighting design (day and night).

  • Demonstrates a considered approach to material circularity, ensuring components are reusable, modular, and designed for disassembly.

  • 1 winning proposal will be selected, plus several honourable mentions.

  • The winning team will be given a production budget of up to 100.000 DKK ex. VAT. This amount must cover the whole production process.

  • Open to designers, scenographers, architects and artists (cross-disciplinary collaborations are encouraged).

  • Preferably all team members must be based in Denmark as they will need to travel frequently to Copenhagen at their own expense.

Competition Jury

For CHART Public we are delighted to welcome an expert jury of professionals from the fields of architecture and spatial design:

  • Kim Lenschow, Copenhagen based architect whose practice, Office Kim Lenschow, prioritizes material poetics and authentic engagement with our surroundings.
  • Peter Bur Andersen, founder and Creative Director of BRIQ, established in 2008 with a vision to shape our future cities and create meaningful urban experiences.
  • Katrine Morel, Head of Architecture & Spatial Design at Surface Club, an interdisciplinary design practice based in Stockholm and Malmö.
