Sunny Day In New York, 2023
The work consists of a female figure in a dress walking with a little butterfly boy on her head. The woman is modeled after a mythological German Angel figure, but without it’s wings and the way the dress is draped I was at the same time looking for a formal connection to the Statue of Liberty, the boy is modeled after myself.
In that sense the relationship between the two figures can be read in different psychological or literal ways.

About The Artist
Yves Scherer (b. 1987) is a visual artist based in New York City. Working in media spanning from figurative sculpture to oil painting and lenticular prints, he creates immersive environments that combine personal narratives with fan fiction and celebrity culture offering the viewer an often romantic lens or perspective on the self, relationships and the everyday. His work has been shown extensively in galleries and institutions across the world, including the Swiss Institute in New York, Kunsthalle Basel and the ICA London.
Yves Scherer is represented by Isaak Fangel.
