STANDARD (OSLO) (NO)

STANDARD (OSLO) was established in April 2005. Based in Oslo the gallery aims at promoting contemporary Norwegian artists in the international field, as well as introducing international artists to the Norwegian audience.

Anna Zacharoff (SE)

Anna Zacharoff is a contemporary artist based in Brussels and Stockholm. She works with different media including painting, performance, sculpture and text. In Zacharoff's works, organisms and different sea creatures are among the recurring motifs. The compositions often feature a simple and minimalistic background, providing the composition with a feeling of quiet tension. What is depicted feels as significant as what remains absent, inviting viewers to consider the unseen. Zacharoff evokes the vast expanse of the ocean, hinting at the enigmatic life and mysteries that lie beneath its surface.

Anna Zacharoff (b. 1987, Stockholm, SE) lives and works in Brussels, Belgium and Stockholm, Sweden. She studied at Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. Recent solo exhibitions include S.M.A.K. Ghent, Belgium; Bianca D'Alessandro, Copenhagen; Neue Alte Brücke, Frankfurt am Main, Germany; Kantine, Brussels, Belgium; Kunstverein Wiesbaden, Wiesbaden, Germany. Works by the artist are in included in the permanent collections of Museum für Moderne Kunst, MMK, Frankfurt am Main; M Leuven, Leuven, Belgium.

Matias Faldbakken (NO)

Matias Faldbakken is a contemporary artist and writer based in Oslo, Norway. He works in a variety of medias, such as painting, sculpture and installation. Faldbakkens work invites viewers to consider how context, intention, and alteration transform the mundane into something conceptually charged. By subjecting industrial and everyday objects to acts of manipulation, disruption, or partial destruction, he strips the items of their original function and recontextualizes them within the gallery space. While trained as an artist, Matias Faldbakken is equally known for his writing.

Matias Faldbakken (b.1973) lives and works in Oslo, Norway. He received his education from The Art Academy in Bergen, Norway, and Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Previous solo exhibitions include the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo; Consortium, Dijon; Wiels, Brussels; Fridericianum, Kassel; Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, Aachen; Ikon Gallery, Birmingham; Kunsthalle St Gallen, St Gallen; The National Museum of Art, Design and Architecture, Oslo. Torbjørn Rødland (NO)

Torbjørn Rødland is a Norwegian photographer and artist based in Los Angeles, USA. When asked the question, what does an image consist of, Rødland’s answer was: “Layers upon layers of perception and identification.” What we see, what we had already seen and what can now not be unseen. What we know, what we already knew, and what can now not be unknown. Who we are, who we were, and who we can now no longer remain.

Torbjørn Rødland (b.1970, Stavanger, NO) lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Røland received his educated at Bergen Art Academy.
