CHART Public – Brief Now Live

The competition brief to design the spatial experience of CHART 2025 is now live. The 11 day submission period starts today!

Key Information

  • Competition starts Wednesday 16 April 2025 12:00 (CET)

  • 11 day open call - competition ends Sunday 27 April 2025 23:59 (CET)

  • Calling for innovative stagings of the Charlottenborg courtyards that transforms the space into a total artistic installation with a cohesive visual narrative.

  • Proposals must have a distinct wow-factor that reflects the energy of the fair, whilst also offering a space to catch your breath.

  • Functionality is important as submissions must be adapted to the historic courtyards and able to integrate fixed scaffolding structures including bars and platforms for performance.

  • Teams must incorporate key 'physical elements' including: skin designs for scaffolding structures, wayfinding concept, social space, lighting design and HAY furniture placement.

  • 1 winning proposal will be selected, plus several honourable mentions.

  • The winning team will be given a production budget of up to 100.000 DKK ex. VAT. This amount must cover the whole production process.

  • Open to designers, scenographers, architects and artists (cross-disciplinary collaborations are encouraged).

  • Preferably all team members must be based in Denmark as they will need to travel frequently to Copenhagen at their own expense.

We are delighted to welcome an expert jury of professionals from the fields of architecture, performance, art and design: Christine Buhl Andersen, Director of Frederiksbergmuseerne; Rolf Hay, Co-founder of Danish design brand HAY; Rikke Hedeager, Artistic Director at Republique/Revolver; Katrine Morel, Head of Architecture & Spatial Design at Surface Club, and Project manager for CHART Public; Finn Nørkjær, partner at BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group.
