About Ane Fabricius Christiansen
Ane Fabricius Christiansen was born in Vejen (Denmark) in 1978. She currently lives and works in Kolding (Denmark).
Ane Fabricius Christiansen works with clay as her primary material, incorporating it into a mixed media practice that encompasses sculpture, installation, video and photography. She experiments conceptually with the material properties of clay, exploring its qualities and possibilities and pushing them to the limits of the technically possible. She is interested in the slippage of her material between its finished status as, precisely, material and its existence as force or energy, seeking to uncover and preserve for the viewer the knowledge of its inherent properties and its interaction with other materials. Through these explorations she calls into question the status of the object and of our desire to fix objects in given categories.
Fabricius Christiansen has exhibited at galleries and museums both in Denmark and internationally, and has attended residencies in Philadelphia, Berlin and Bangkok. As well as her own practice she collaborates and exhibits as part of the prize-winning art group VERSUS.
As part of the Curio exhibition, Ane Fabricius Christiansen will present “Silent Lands – An Archive” (2018).
