THE CURIO – Kasper Kjeldgaard

Kasper Kjeldgaard (1983) graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts of Design with an MA in (Furniture) Design, 2016. A curiosity about the inherent features of his relatively narrow material catalogue is the driving force behind Kasper Kjeldgaard’s practice. Ash wood, beeswax, brass, thread and paper is molded, folded and transformed. In their own abstract forms his objects play with gravity, balance, rotation and friction and challenge our understanding of nature, spatiality, and physicality and suggest new ways of interacting with and in a space. Speaking of Sculpture is a site-specific installation where the sculpture is placed on the floor, the mobile in the ceiling and reliefs on the wall. Looking at design and sculpture as closely linked and mutually dependent elements Kjeldgaard will show his series, Speaking of Sculpture consisting of an aesthetic mix of abstract mobiles, sculptures, reliefs and functional lamps at The Curio.
