Date & Time

Apollo Canteen, Charlottenborg

This talk is part of the discursive platform of the Nasher Prize, an annual award given to an artist who has made a tremendous impact on the practice of sculpture. The panel discussion will explore hybrid sculptural forms of contemporary artists, Martin Boyce, Nina Beier, and Elmgreen & Dragset, and the ways in which they each deploy architecture and design within their artistic practices, from altered readymades to architectural interventions to highly crafted recreations of the built environment. The talk is presented by CHART and Nasher Sculpture Center.

Martin Boyce’s (b. 1967, Scotland) sculptural works recall and reference the materials, textures and forms of the built urban environment.

Nina Beier (b. 1975, Denmark) combines well-known objects in new and unexpected constellations as a way of exploring how value is constructed and communicated.

Elmgreen & Dragset have been working together since 1995 at the crossroads of art and architecture, performance and installation.

Moderator: Briony Fer, Art Historian, Critic and Professor at University College London.

The venue is wheelchair accessible.
